I have an angel tree with purple, silver, and gold, with white lights. Purple is my favorite color.
Every year I do a different color scheme!! This year was Riding Hood Red and Whisper White. Last year was Chocolate Chip and Bashful Blue. Next year (yes, I already have it figured out! lol) will be Bashful Blue, and silver with chandelier crystals. I love, love, love Christmas!!
Hi Dawn,
A few years ago, my husband became addicted to Old World ornaments so our tree is decorated in only Old World ornaments and forged aluminum ornaments from Wendall August Forge in Ohio. We have multi-colored twinkling lights on the tree. It is a beautiful tree. I talked him into getting an artificial tree a few years ago after years of traipsing through the tree farms to the farthest corner to cut down the perfect tree. It made for good memories for our children but now that they are grown and we are older, the artificial tree works well and is beautiful. And, we can put it up on Thanksgiving weekend to enjoy longer.
Hey Dawn…awwww…no tree for you?
Well, because I live in the Northern part of Michigan…I decorate my tree with a nature theme. This year, I have pine cones that I collected around my yard from our pine trees, I have birds that I purchased from the craft supply along with faux fruits, birch bark and twigs that have been guilded in gold. I love my earthy tree…if is a good fit for my rustic home.
Hi Dawn – I so much enjoy your sight!!! Glad to hear your Mom’s surgery went well!! I too am a purple nut!!! I am a cancer survivor and at our relay the survivors get to wear “purple survivor shirts”.
I also am a snowman collector and have always had a snowman painted on my nails. I am very impressed that you can do that and have such a steady hand! I work at a nail salon and watch how intricate the designs and how it’s done.
Have a wonderful & blessed Christmas to you and your family!
We do our main tree all in gold and white. There are 2 other smaller trees placed in rooms with front windows which are decorated with all the things my children have made over the years at school, as well as all the old ornaments my husband and I have from our childhoods.
every year we buy a real tree…we use blinking lights that are colorful…our ornaments are all the ones from when my hubby and I have been together…then added to that all the ones from when my son has been born…so all ornaments have special meaning…the angel for the top of the tree was my grandmothers…once all together’s we put tinsel all over…(which I will see for the rest of the year)….
I decorate our tree with purple & dark pink ornaments. The ornaments are both matt & shiney. Some of them are hearts. I also add “crystal” snowflakes & butterflies. I am a butterfly collector and these are my favourite. The tree has white lites and it is so pretty when it is lit up at night.
Have a wonderfuly Christmas!!!
Hi Dawn,
Since we have little ones (5 and 3 year old), we just hang those unbreakable Christmas ornaments in a lot of different colors and multi-colored lights. When they get older, I will put the special ornaments back up.
I don’t have a particular color that I used this year. I made red ornaments using the small scallop punch and then used weeds from the field in front of my house, ie pompus grass plumes, dried snow ball flowers, and whatever else I could find, all tied with red ribbon. White lights also.
Dawn, LOVE your site!! Our tree is decorated with silver and red ornaments with an angel on top dressed in red. There are a few special ones on there that my children have made (dough, cinnamon stars, photos, etc…). Thank you for sharing all your wonderful ideas.
Hi Dawn
Love your site and visit it daily to see your talent. As for my tree, white lights and angels with different colored glass bulbs with an angel top.
I have enjoyed the chirstmas ornaments everyone is making from DS so this year I have lots of blue and stipes on our tree. Thanks for teaching and sharing with us all!!
Hey Dawn,
I have always wanted a theme tree. But when ever I open the ornaments my children made. I have to put them out along with twinkling white lights. The memories.
Merry Christmas,
Beth F

Congratulations to you! Great Job.
Hi Dawn, I let my 8 yr old decorate the tree this year but she still put my green and red bells that my Nana made me on the front of the tree. They look abit silly with all the other decorations but they are very special to me. Cait never got to met my Nana (or my Mum)but she knows how special they are to me. Have a very Merry Christmas. Marls
We have two trees. Our family tree is full of ornaments that we collect and add to each year. I use a beaded garland that has red, green, and brushed gold color in it.
The other tree that I usually put up (but did not this year) is in blue and silver and crystal or clear ornaments, garland, etc.
Thanks for all of your inspiration.
Have a wonderful Christmas.
pscole3467 at gmail dot com
Your tree sound fun and purple.lol
We have 2 trees. On is a tree with twinkly white lights strung in the middle of the tree and on the outer part of the tree multi-colored lights with assorted ornaments throughout the tree. So a multi-colored tree. The 2nd tree is Barbie themed. I have collected Barbie ornament from Hallmark for years and years to it is Pink lights of course with Barbie.
Hi, Dawn!
For years, we put up two Christmas trees ~ one with all kinds of ornaments with no special color scheme. The second is decorated in mauves and burgundys.
Best wishes to you and your family for a Merry Christmas!! Judy
White lights with multicolor blown glass ornaments in the living room. The kitchen tree is red gingham and mini kitchen utensils tied with red gingham.
my tree would be silver, if i had one.
merry christmas to you and your family.
Hi Dawn,
My mom and my daughters favorite color is Purple any shade.
I think I am going to decorate the tree purple next year. This year its Red and Silver all over, and Red and White lights. Hope you have a good holiday, Liset
Hi Dawn! Glad to hear all went well with your mom’s surgery! I hope she has a speedy recovery! :o)
As for the Christmas tree… we currently have a small 4-foot one that is pre-lit with multi colored lights. The ornaments are all different metallic colors, with some silver and special ornaments thrown in.
My goal one day is to have a tree decorated with Stampin’ Up! ornaments. :o)
This year i have up a white tree and my girls wanted red and gold bulbs on it. I have bows and ribbon all over it. The ribbon is red, gold and a little green on it. White lights. Have a Merry Christmas Dawn!!

Hi Dawn, love all your wonderful ideas. This year I only put up 2 already decorated trees. In my family room I use a snowman theme with white lights. In the kitchen what else would it be but kitchen related items with white lights. I didn’t put the “big” tree up this year as I have also been dealing with a family illness but when it’s up it has Coke ornaments and my collectable glass ornaments with white lights and hand beaded “icicles” & bells from my husband’s grandma. Merry Christmas to everyone. Connie
I use multi-colored lights and ornaments that I have collected during our marriage. The first one on the tree is the santa ornament that was my parents’ first ornament when I was a baby. It is the first up and the last down. Each ornament has a special meaning to me. My grandson always helps with the tree and knows the story that goes with each one…………someday they will be his. Our tree topper is his snowman hand puppet he got his first Christmas……..he wanted it up there and now I can’t imagine anything better!!

Dawn you are so talented.. I am addicted to your site and your videos. Our tree doesn’t have a certain color theme.. 1/2 the ornaments are handmade by my 6 kids.. the others are some I’ve accumulated through the years.

Hi Dawn My name is Kathy and I live just outside of chicago IL. We decorate our tree in white lights and many different ornaments. NO theme here. We have many handmade ornaments from the kids and many from when I was a child. On the top we have a star, and underneath the tree is the nativity set and a santa and reindeer.
My tree is green with multi-colored everything! My plan for next year is a major overhaul though…I hope. White tree with clear lights, pink and silver decorations. I had been thinking of doing this as a second tree but my husband is ok with replacing the traditional tree – I’m shocked. Hoping to find some major sales after Christmas to see this happen.
Ohhhh. A purple tree, I never thought of that. Purple is my favorite color. Our tree is usually decorated with gingerbread men cookies, candy canes, and last year I cut out snowflakes. We have a box of ornaments of various themes we put up when I don’t have a plan for the tree which this year I don’t.
Well, I don’t decorate my tree, my daughter does and she loves blue and silver! Why isn’t your tree up this year? Merry Christmas!
I left a comment and no name or address.

Hi Dawn,
Our tree is decorated with ornaments we have collected while vacationing each year. It is also filled with all the hand made ornaments our boys have made over the years. We call it our memory tree because each year we put the ornaments on we talk about our memories of the trip we took, where we got the ornament, what grade the kids were in when they made it. Also, each year we buy the boys a special ornament for them to take when they grow up. This year we found a little car for our 16 year old who got his driver’s license in Aug. He’s really proud of that one!
Have a good Christmas!

Our tree is multi-colored and really does not have any theme. All ornaments are those that I grew up with and the angel on top is the one that adorned my family christmas tree throughout my childhood. This is our first christmas and tree as a married couple and we have had great joy putting it up.
Mine is a very country theme… I have all or at least most of the ornies that the kids hve made thry the years and most of the rest are ornies that I have made. The light bulb santas, grinches, snowmen, etc. It always looks so beautiful. And the star on top is made of wire and pinecones…
traditional green tree with mostly red and gold ornaments. But this year we rescued two kittens so no tree:)
Hi Dawn!
No tree, makes me sad for you!
I don’t have a specific color scheme. We have all the old ornaments from when I and my hubby were little, plus all the ones we have purchased for our little one. So, they are a mismatched, very odd, and unmatched scheme! I also don’t do garland, I tie red bows on the end of some of the branches. So, guess that’s it for me!
Have a WONDERFUL christmas!!!
Hi Dawn, love love love your blog and check it daily . . . sometimes more then once. Each year our Christmas tree gets a few more Hallmark ornaments added to it. It is an all Hallmark ornament tree with both white and colored lights and a big star at the top. I have a thick “snowman” tree skirt and the manger sits right next to him. Keep those cards and tutorials coming.
I’m a grandmom. Whem my husband and I were young, we had no money for tree decorations. So the kids made ornaments (all colors) !! But, the very best thing is our tree topper. We were looking for something nice, but with no money. . .what does one do? SO, we purchased for 99 cents a tiny little brown monkey wearing a santa hat. His arms were like clips so he could hold on to the tree top. . .Do you know how much we have loved clipping that little monkey to the tree every year? He is a tradition!!! And, every year we realize how much God has richly blessed us. Thank you Dawn for your wonderful site and for your shining testimony to God’s goodness.
Merry Christmas Dawn!
We have a 9′ tree that is decorated with white lights and blown glass ornaments. We finish it off with red bows and candy canes and of course, an angel on top.
God Bless you and your family.
Hi Teacher — Our tree has multi colored lights on it. I love lights but have resigned myself to the fact that the “pre lit trees” are a wonderful thing!! The decorations are from years of collecting — when my boys were little it was so much fun to open the decoration boxes — and hear them say oh I remember this one! Merry Christmas — and thanks for sharing your talents!
Dawn…I do my tree in blue colors with some silver. Blue is my favorite color and since I am the one that puts the tree up and down I picked the colors.
Dawn,
Why no tree? That seems sad. We do our tree in homemade ornaments and in ornaments that have sentimental attachments. The gaps are filled in with a few store bought balls but eventually, my goal is to only have homemade ornaments. 🙂
Hi Dawn. Love your blog. I visit everyday. My tree is green and I have multi coloured lights and decorations from years of collecting from kids I have taught at school and from my family. I guess you’d call it a sentimental decorating theme. I’d like to send my best wishes to your mom on her recovery. And thank you for the chance to win some blog candy!
Trish
I decorate in all colors.
My tree is multi-colors. I do not have any regular bulbs on my tree. I have collected Hallmark ornaments for years so it would be hard to do a single color. Hope you have a Very Merry Christmas!
Carol
My tree is decorated in LOVE. I hang every Christmas ornament that out children made, they are now 27 and 25, as well as the ornaments that our grand-daughter, 4, makes now. We also have a tradition of buying an ornament with the year listed on it and have hung all of those starting with 1975! Needless to say, the color of our tree is LOVE!
Teri ([email protected])
Hi Dawn – I have five trees – the main tree has all our family decortations both homemade and firsts. The dining room tree is red and white, the family room is has colored bulbs, the playroom has a teddy bear treee and my room has an angel tree…or yes and each boy (3) has a theme tree in their rooms….Titans football, fishing, and hot wheel cars…Can you tell we love Christmas? Thanks for a great website and best wishes to your mom.
Kathleen
This set is so cute, I would love to have it. For my Christmas tree, I have no them really. I have ornaments I have collected since I was little on it, some are homemade and some mean more than anyone will ever know. I have a special paper angel that I put in my tree that my little sister made and that is the most special one. (she was brutally murdered) But really all the ornaments I put on my tree have a meaning or came from an adventure in my life.
I decorate my tree in whites and clear glass. most of my ornaments are snow babies that I make (ceramic) then on some of the glass ornaments they have a touch of color. it is all done with clear lites and it is beautiful… thanks Tracy
Our tree is somewhat sentimental to me as it used to stand 12′ in the air, but now that we moved to another house my husband cut it down. It still stands as high as the ceiling and I have all different kinds of ornaments on it. If we vacation during the year, I try to find a boat ornament that reminds us of that place. No real theme though. Lots of red – my favorite color.

I decorate my tree with children’s ornaments. I have three children 8, 4 and 3. They like to make ornaments and I have some that I made as a child. So to answer your question, my tree is all different colors. Before I had children I decorated my tree with Gold and Burgundy. I prefer my tree with the kids ornaments. It makes it more festive.
Hi Dawn…I love your site. I thoroughly enjoy reading and seeing your many crafty items. My little tree (3ft) this year was aqua blue, silver, and gray…a little non traditional. Usually I stick with the good old red and green with lots of botanicals (cranberries, pine cones, twigs, etc.) I would LOVE to have a Christmas tree with orange since it is my favorite color, but I am not sure how my husband would react. I wish your mom a speedy recovery.
We don’t have a particular color going on but have been collecting the Peanuts gang & Snoopy for about 20 years now. We have our tree loaded down with Snoopy ornaments. Dawn, I do love your site! Blessings to you and your family this year!
Merry Christmas Dawn,
My tree is very crafty. We put white lights on the inside, colored lights on the outside and almost all of the ornaments are homemade in one way or another. Also, ever since my daughter was a baby, 20 years ago, she has gotten an ornament each year with her name and the date on it, and the ornament reflects whatever it was that she was in to at that time. She has one from girl scouts, ice skating, whales, etc. We also have one from every year with a picture so she can see how she has grown. We are now starting that tradition with our grandchildren so they too will have a bunch of ornaments for their very first tree.
My mom goes to craft fairs each year and buys tons of ornaments and gives those out as her Christmas gifts. Our tree is decorated in the ornaments we’ve received through the years. You are so sweet to give away your favorite things!
hi stamper dawn!!!
i put all white lights on our tree and the main bulbs (shatterproof – we have a 2 year old…lol!) are red and silver this year and then our hallmark ornaments that we have collected over the years. you would have been proud of me…last year our colors were purple and silver….shatter proof, of course 😉
thank you for such a wonderful blog! i have found so much inspiration here!
regina cornelius
Hi Dawn,
I love checking in with you everyday! You are an inspiration! My tree started out (years ago), as green ornaments and lights with a little gold. I now have some red added in and my most favourite decoration is the peacock feathers I have recently added! Why no tree this year???? We are snowed in this morning, here near Stratford, Ontario!!!
Hi Dawn you are so talented I check your blog almost daily for insperation, my children also enjoy watching your videos. We decorate our tree with no specific color scheme just some cutsie ornaments and homemade ones the kids make thanks for a chance to win
Hi Dawn,
I LOVE your website. It is the first site I check everyday. Our tree is really a mishmash of colours. We decorate it with ornamnents that have been given to us by friends over the years and with ornaments that our girls made from the time they were in Kindergarten. They are now in their 30s so some of these ornaments are showing their age. As we add each ornament to the tree we remember (if we can) the story that goes with it.
Every year, my family thinks of a theme of Christmas, like M&M’s, snowman, Mountain Dew, etc. We make ornaments from these themes every year and put them on our tree!
We cram our tree full with lots of ornaments in all different colors. I went to the LCD colored lights this year and they are bright and vibrant, but I miss the warm glow of white lights on the tree. My only rule? No glass ornaments — I used to break at least one ornament a year when I was a kid and it broke my heart everytime.
My tree has the theme of “gingerbread men.” I use the traditional color red. I use lots of gingerbread ornaments and candy canes. The topper is even a “gingerbread” star! I love gingerbread men because they are so happy!
By the way, purple is my favorite color also! My dad painted my room purple when I was a little girl. I love purple!
My tree doesn’t have a theme. While I’m at work my husband and kids decorate everything so it is always a suprise for me to see it when I get home.
Thanks so much for all your creative ideas!

Hi Dawn,
We decoracte our Christmas tree in all black and gold. We are big New Orleans Saints Fans.
Merry Xmas,
Dawn
Merry Christmas!!!
This is my first Christmas being married so our tree is done in Millitary and Tigger. I love tigger and he is a Iraq Vet.. I love snowmen too and have snuck some of those on as well.
Dylana
I don’t worry about a color scheme I just put up my ornaments each of them as they all mean something special. I gave my kids all the ones they made for their Christmas trees, a hard thing to do but I thought it was important that they have them.I have all sorts of ornaments.Love your blog Dawn.
Eileen([email protected])
My tree is traditional red and green with tons of handmade ornaments and lots of pictes of my son! Merry Christmas!
I have 5 children and so most of the tree is covered in ornaments that they have made. It is fun to decorate every year as they remember the ornaments they have made.
Dawn: Every year I decorate our tree with White Lights and make the ornaments that go on our Christmas tree. The idea is once the holidays are over, all I have to do is remove the lights and my DH can drag the tree out to the trash and I don’t have to store ornaments from year to year. This year…I decorated our tree using your adorable “Candy Cane Mouse” posting as our tree ornaments. They look adorable on the tree and have made our Christmas Tree extra fun this year. The tree looks like it has a hundred mice hanging off the branches by their tails. Thanks for sharing your “Candy Cane Mouse” creations and Happy Holidays! Kadie
I decorate my tree with all my family’s heirloom ornaments and colored lights. The ornaments are MOSTLY homemade.
My tree is multicoloured lights and the ornaments are a large variety of items! Some nearly as old as I am. I also have over 130 blown glass ornaments that I sually put on my tree, but not this year. Snowmen, Santas and unusually shaped items are the main ones this year! I am considering making ornaments for a small tree for my kitchen for next year as I have an annual party and think this would work well. Maybe I’ll make up a kitchen item in Purple! Merry Christmas Dawn, and thanks for your blog! It’s the best!
Dawn,
I read your blog every morning. Love it! I decorate my tree in blue and gold one year and then red and gold the next year. Variety is the spice of life. Merry Christmas!
Hello Dawn – First I want to thank you for the give away!! It’s very kind of you!
The decorating of my tree depends on what mood I’m in on that day!! This year I went with a more classy look and did a red and green theme. It turned out pretty good!! I do have two more small trees throughout the house – one is in my daughters room and it is pink so of course we did very girly ornaments on that one. My other small one is decorated in like a rustic christmas theme. They are super cute!!
Hi, Dawn! Our tree is decorated in many different colors. We have ornaments from my childhood, ornaments my daughter made as a young child, and ornaments we collect on vacation each year. We string white mini lights on the tree to hightlight all of the different ornaments. It is a challenge to see if we can fit all of the ornaments on the tree each year! Our tree topper is a silver star. Our tree may not look like the ones in the stores, but it is just right for us. Memories are important to us, especially at Christmas, so I am glad we have so many different ornaments to remind us of special times and special people in our lives.
Hello Dawn, and Merry Christmas from a wet, but wonderful California. Our tree has fiber optic lights, and most of the bulbs are red, but in many different sizes. I love to sit in the almost dark livingroom and watch the lights.
Our tree is a memory tree. The ornaments are what my children and family have made through the years. It’s all different colors lites and bulbs and it’s perfect! There is a memory for every bulb. Thank you

Hey Dawn… LOVE YOUR BLOG!
I do a *cowboy* theme .. We raise and show horses so that just fits right in..
Hi Dawn!
My family and I enjoying using traditional red/green for our Christmas decorations, but I have a smaller Christmas tree in our dining room covered with gingerbread-themed ornaments and decorations. My kids still enjoy hanging the ornaments they made for us as gifts on the tree each year. No matter what the color, each tree is special to the person who decorates it. Merry Christmas and thanks for sharing your talent. I really enjoy the Christian elements you add to your website as well.

Our tree is decorated in colored lights with ornaments collected over the last 28 years of places we have been and collections we have come across. Since my daughter was born she had received the annual ornament from Precious Moments and my son has received the annual ornament from goebel. He is now married so he will be receiving his ornaments this year and I am replacing the spots on the tree with ornaments I have made using the SU glitter and reinkers until we have new memories to put on the tree.
Janice
Hi Dawn! My color scheme this year is turquoise, magenta, lime green and red with gold beads and white lights strung on it. I also purchase an ornament every place we visit when we’re able to go on vacation (it’s not that often), so there is a small tree with those ornaments. I have three boys and each year I buy at least one Hallmark ornament for each of them (some years it’s more than one), when I have time, I have a separate tree for those ornaments. Someday when they leave the nest (and are responsible or married), I will give them those ornaments to put on their own trees….that is if I can part with them!! 🙂 Have a great day!
I love the color green. So I cover my tree in as many green lights as I can and then my two little girls take over from there with the ornaments.
My mother loves the color purple I think I might suggest that she decorate her tree next year in purple. Thanks for the great idea. Happy Holidays
Traci K
This year I decorated my tree in red, blue, green, and gold. The tree is very pretty! I don’t have any sentimental ornaments on there, but I surely do miss them. I might have to stick on a couple at the last minute. Memories really do matter at Christmas!
Our tree is a hodge podge of colors! It has mini multi colored lights on it. And the ornaments are ornaments that my husband and I received growing up and all the ornaments the kids have gotten since they were born. Each one has a special meaning! LOTS of fun!!
My mom’s tree is by far my favorite though…. She has white lights and nothing but Santa ornaments. It’s seriously cute!!
Happy Holidays Dawn! Thanks for the continuing ispiration on projects and cards and for a chance to win some fabulous stuff! Soooooooo exciting!
~Callie…. [email protected]!!
I would love to see your tree in all the purple splendor – the colour of royalty to welcome our King tho he was born in a stable.
Our tree is tradition – decorated with clear lights, Hallmark Collectables “Frosty Friends” (this series has been going on for ever), red balls.
I always thought it would be nice to have two trees decorated – one in the family room which would be the traditinal and one in the livingroom which would be decorted in balls to coordinate with the decor.
I decorate my tree in one of three color combinations, everything color coordinated.
Over the years my piano students have given me music ornaments and these, of course, appear annually.
When I was a child, my parents had a ritual the Friday after Thanksgiving, never before because they felt Thanksgiving too often was tossed in the corner. We put up the tree to carols, hot chocolate, egg nog, pop corn and I continued that with my children.
They are grown, scattered, but do this in their households now and Ron and I with our dog and cat continue. Tradition binds together the past, present and future.
What color is my tree? I have 9 trees! My favorite is mostly white lights with all kinds of angels that I have collected over the years. I love the holidays! KarKur8 at aol dot com
Hi Dawn,
My tree is decorated in glass, silver, white and a tiny bit of red. It shimmers and looks sooo beautifully, I love it – and my family as well!
Greetings from Nessie
My sister teases me and says that I have the “Belk” tree. It is done in all white lights red balls and red and white santa’s. Each year we get 1 new ornament. (red and white santa of course) There are a few other special ornaments on the tree as well. And always right up front in the middle of everything is the Virgin Mary with baby Jesus so we don’t forget the reason of the season!
Merry Christmas and blessings to you and your family.
Shelly

Our tree is crystal, gold, and cream colored. It is decorated with angels from top to bottom–angel dolls, crystal angels, etc. We bought the decorations the year our first grandchild (our little angel) was born. He is now 13 years old and just started high school! We still have the same tree and decorations, and I love it just as much today as I did 13 years ago.
Our tree is done in multi color. This is one thing that my husband will not change. He wants a colorful tree with handmade ornaments that the kids have made through the years. Unfortunatly this year our tree looks more like a Charlie Brown tree than anything else. Our new cat Midnight seems to think that it is a chew toy and has destroyed the tree, along with breaking just about every glass ornament on it. Next year I buy plastic.
I have the traditional gold and red! The red baubles have the two tone red/black and look gorgeous! I have clear/white lights on my tree with a gold wire framed star with fabric and sequins at the top!
I love Christmas!
Thanks
Steph

P.S. I subscribed to your newsletter but haven’t had one yet lol Did I do it right?!!! Thanks for all the inspiration on your blog and your fab video tutorials! Have a great Christmas 🙂 x
My tree is very colorful!! Reds and greens and yellows, you name it, I got it!! And my kids love to look at the tree and “see all the colors of the rainbow” !! Have a merry Xmas, to you and all your family!
Chantal
Hi Dawn,
We don’t really have a color theme for our tree – but what makes it special to us are all the ornaments we’ve collected from all over the world on the various trips we’ve taken: Costa Rica, Virgin Islands, Singapore, Uzbekistan, etc. It brings back good memories.
No tree here this year either. Normally I decorate it in just the white lights and all the mishmash of ornaments I have been given, made and my children made through the years. They are what have meaning for us! Thanks for all the inspiration on your wonderful blog Dawn! Merry Christmas!!
[email protected]
Our tree is very traditional with ornaments we have collected over the 34 yrs. we’ve been married. we get a new one each year with the year on it. We use white lights and red and green taffeta bows and top it off with a lighted angel.
Hi Dawn. It’s Cindy, the crazy lady who called you a couple of weeks ago about a question on her order. I did go back and tell all my friends that I spoke with the “Hi Stammpers” lady from the internet! We decorate our tree in a red and white candy cane theme. We have red/white striped ornaments and lots of candy canes (big, small, glass, silver, etc.). We also have ornanments for all of our dogs (present and past). We have another tree upstairs in our dinning room that is all snowmen.
I decorate my tree in PURPLE and gold or silver, but always PURPLE!! They say great minds think alike (ha-ha). Your blog is the first site I go to every morning, I love your ideas, enthusiasm and your love for the Lord!
Hello Dawn,
(I tried posting before and I don’t know where my comment went) 😉
Anyway, I was saying that this year our little tree has just the white lites. No ornaments! We used to go all out and decorate with ornaments GALORE! Ones that had special meaning to our family, Everything from “OUR FIRST CHRISTMAS” to “BABY’S FIRST CHRISTMAS” (one for both kids)…to ones my Kindergarten students gave me….ones my kids hand-made…ALL kids of ornaments. All different styles that came together in a nice warm way! It was fun! My hubby passed away a few years ago and over time we’ve gotten lazier about the tree. I can recall SOME of the stories behind the ornaments, but he could fill in the missing parts. The kids have their stories too and that’s fun.. we just haven’t taken them all out in a while. Maybe ’09 we’ll get the BIG tree out along with the ornaments and decorate like old times! Thanks for asking!
We really don’t have a color scheme. Our lights are multi-colored and the ornaments vary from Nascar to Barbie to my personal traditional ones I’ve accummulated over the years. Our tradition though is to have a real tree that we buy from our Church so the proceeds go back to the school. We always buy it/decorate 2 weeks before Christmas then keep it up until New Years Day. Just love having the decorations up for New Year’s Eve, kwim?

Hey Dawn,
I have only one tree that is decorated with multi colored lights and different types of ornaments collected throughout years of my kids growing up that they made in school and at home. I have a homemade tree skirt made out of material and shaped like a merry-go-round with horses. I made that 28 years ago and am still using it (even though it is well worn a littled bit). I love your site!!! Merry Christmas to you and your family! Thanks, Tammey
Hi Dawn,
I would love to do my tree in all purple–it’s my favorite oolor too! But, I always do my tree with white lights and a variety of colored glass ornaments. Thanks for the opportunity to win a great SU set!
Lisa ([email protected])
We change up between Red and Gold and Blue and silver. This year we did blue, silver and gold altogether, and I really like it! My kids, like yours, are older now and I let them do 90% of the tree now. Nice! They do a super job!
Hi Dawn!
For the last few years I have decorated my tree in gold and burgundy. My Hallmark ornament collection with all its bright reds and greens doesn’t even clash like I was worried they might!
Hope you have a Merry Christmas!
June in KS ([email protected])
Our tree is quite eclectic…candy canes, lights, handmade ornaments, regular ornaments. A bit of everything!
I usually have an old fashion tree of multi color lights and hand blown glass ornaments. But this year I got lazy and bought a tree in a box at Home Depot it has amber and white lights with ivory and copper poinsettias with glitter fruit. It is pretty and will just pop back in the box when I am done!
Hi, Dawn –
I don’t do a “themed” or “color” tree. I have so many ornaments that were made/given to me over the years along with some of my mom and dad’s and grandma’s, great aunt’s – I just love putting them on the tree and remembering the person I received it from. I still have all the ones the kids made for me at school, too!
Happy Holidays!
Jan
Hi Dawn…first of all I’m glad everything went well with your mom, I went through the exact same thing with my mom in the fall, the only difference is the she fell off her bike, it was a very difficult time for her just to do the simple little things…hope everything works out fine for her….
As for my tree…I use white lights and decorate with just christmas balls of EVERY color, the children are now gone and now I have my own tree….LOL!!!
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!!!
Absolutely love your blog!!! I am addicted I must say! Our Christmas tree is a hodge podge tree. Ornaments from when I was little, ornaments given as gifts and ornaments my son has made at school. We usually use white lights. And sometimes I might do a popcorn garland. Fun memories!!
This is an ongoing debate when it comes to the string of lights. My husband prefers multi-colored and I prefer white lights. Our tree is over 20 yrs. old and I just enjoy it so much that I can’t do a set theme other than using the many bought and hand-made ornaments. It is a history of our family thru the years. My daughter and her new husband now have her boxes of ornaments to decorate their tree this year. Eventually my son and his new bride will do the same once they have a home with room. A white-lit star tops our tree and silver tinsel garland encircles it.
I have three trees. The first is decorated with white lights and all the ornaments from my childhood growing up, as well as the ornaments that used to hang on my grandparents tree. Next is a formal tree in my dining room with a gold and white theme. Finally, the third tree is multicolored with all the ornaments that have been made or given to me over the years. Each tree is special to me. Thanks and LOVE all your great ideas!
Our Christmas tree is a tree of memories. We have to decorate with the multi colored lights and ornaments that either my 2 boys have made or have been given to us as gifts. The angel at the top is made from the under fabric (don’t know what that’s called) of my wedding dress that was homemade. Thanks for the chance to win!
When my husband and I were married on 12/23 thirty one years ago, Bill’s Godmother started a dated Christmas ornament collection for us. Every year we add a dated ornament to this collection. Its a neat reminder of the history of our family.

Dawn,
First i want to say “Thanks” i check out your site everyday–and get so many cute ideas…
I decorate my tree with multi colored lights and the ornaments and ‘stuff’ all have to be bears…i even have a bear that sits on the top. I love it.
Thank You for all you do…
Our tree is multi-colored and VERY eclectic. It has everything from handmade crocheted ornaments that my grandmother made to fancy glass ornaments from Poland, things my children made to gift ornaments given to us as wedding gifts. We love decorating the tree each year and rediscovering the people and memories connected with each treasure.
Hi Dawn,
Working for the State Dept., I have collected ornaments from everywhere! Most years I cannot even put them ALL on our tree. And — because we have such a variation of ornaments, I do the same with our lights. Lots of them, and — all colors. Have a great holiday!
Hi!!!Dawn, I LOVE checking your site everyday,My tree is multi color lights with ornaments that my children have received from grandparents and etc. Thanks for the chance to win. Kim Holochak
Our tree is decorated with the delicate colors of…childhood. 🙂 The majority of our ornaments are those our children have made. The rest of the ornaments are special ones we purchase every year to commemorate a special event that happened that year. (Last year was DD’s first year of playing soccer – we bought a glittery soccer ball to commemorate that.)
We have a tree that has the typical family collection of ornaments that the kids made through the years plus a colorful assortment of ones we’ve collected through the years. This is the tree that can’t be decorated until everyone is home from college and the tree where the presents go under. I have more control over the upstairs tree which I’ve done in Bohemian colors: turquoise, hot pink, lime green, orange, gold, etc. I love both trees!
We have multi-colored lights and then it’s covered with handmade ornaments from my kids’ grade school years (always my favorites) and a dozens of cute animal Hallmark ornaments that my mom always picks up at the 75-80% off sales after Christmas. (She gives them to all of us the following year as stocking stuffers.)
I have done our tree in a more traditional form this year. It has all the little special ornaments on it that the girls have been giving or made over the past 18 years. I did the light in red with a few multi. And of course the bows on it are red with Cats on them. The past few years I have done an all purple tree. Purple lights, bows, ornaments, and tree skirt. It matched the wall color really nice, like the color that Dawn has on the side of this page.
I love a natural tree but the artificial ones are getting better and better. I love my silver and white. Sometimes I had dried hydrangeas which add a smidge of pink and green. Dawn, hope your Mom is doing well. My brother is still in ICU-33 days. Merry Christmas to all your family.
Mary

Hi Dawn,
Our tree isn’t “themed” like some others. We use multicolored lights but my favorite light set is multicolored but the bulbs are covered with little M&Ms. Too cute. Most of the ornaments are things our three children have made or bought us during there years growing up. I guess when they leave home we’ll have to give them their ornaments and get new ones for our tree. Happy Holidays!
Donna ([email protected])
The theme of my tree is handmade ornaments. The only “store bought” ones are the first one my husband and I got when we got married…we hang that one first every year and then the rest can go up. Although I didn’t do it this year, I sometimes have more than one tree as we have so many ornaments! Thank you for all of your creativity throughout the year. May you enjoy this blessed time with your loved ones. Look forward to more of your creative projects in 2009!
I decorate with white — lights, snowflakes, icicles, ornaments. Kids decorate with multi-colored and all their favorite ornaments. Merry Christmas — [email protected]
WOW! look at all the comments. I use mostly red and white on my tree. I have lots of old glass ornaments and I use poinsettias to fill in the empty spaces. Merry Christmas Dawn
Hi Dawn:
Love your site and visit it daily! We decorate our tree in multi colored lights with all different ornaments. The tree seems to fuller with ornaments around the bottom since I have a 5 and 7 year old. Find more on the floor than ever this year!! Thanks for all you do!
Hi, and Merry Christmas. This year I have decorated our tree with white lights and all different sizes of gold balls…no tinsel cause I have 2 cats who look at that as “cat spaghetti”…then my granddaughter came over (she is only 2) and said..”gamma…where are the santa claus candies?”…..so the tree also now has several white, red and green candy canes.
I put up 12 trees each year and all have a different theme to match the room they are in.
Living room: Western Tree with Cowboy Santa’s and snowmen and old Santa miners then there is the “Farm” tree-with cows, chickens, pigs, etc. These are mostly in Reds and Greens.
Den: Family tree, with family vintage and handmade ornaments, the Americana tree…done in Barn Red, Navy and Cream (in tribute to 9-11)
Dining Room: Apple & Cinnamon tree, in barn red, browns, greens and tea stained cream.
Kitchen: Kitchen utensil tree
Hall:Snowman tree in red, white and sage green
Guest room: Sunflower tree…gold, yellow and greens.
Sons room: Woodland tree….black and red buffalo check, lots of earthy colors.
Office: Harley Tree…orange and black of course!
“Man Cave” has a hunting fishing tree…lots of camo colors.
Master Bedroom: Victorian tree in rose, cream and burgandy
Hall bathroom: Outhouse theme…lots of greens, browns and barn red. yes I have outhouse ornaments!
Whew! Im tired just listing them all, but I LOVE them all!!!
Love this site and all your teaching! My dear husband always buys me a precious moment ornament for our anniversary on Dec. 19. so our tree is decorated with those and many, many homemade ornaments too. I love purple too so I like your idea of a purple themed tree. Fun!
My tree is done in multi color because I have almost all Hallmark Ornaments and the Disney Ornaments. Love your site and all the great work you do. You have helped me grow my business with your techniques.
Jenice
much like you I am dying to have a purple tree just one year! But I am a huge Disney fan and so my tree is done up in Disney! Tink sits a top my tree and we have all kinds of characters on the tree. I do have my purple lights though!
We decorated our tree with different colors, and the ornaments that the children made from school and the ones that I made. It came out nice. Just decorated the way you like and it will come out nice. thanks
Helen
Hey Dawn!! Well, the lights on our tree are multicoloured, but the ornaments are red, gold and white. This year I did something different and added a few poinsettia flower branches in my tree.
Merry Christmas!
Cheers
Kelly
Hi Dawn,
We use white lights and a variety of ornaments that we have been given over the years. We pretty much let our daughter pick what she wanted on the tree this year. Merry Christmas!
I am a crazy collector of Hallmark Ornaments. I put silver balls on the inside of the tree so the lights are reflected and then my Hallmark on the outside branches. Merry Christmas
Hi Dawn, Happy holidays! We have little boys and kitties, so most things on our tree are unbreakable. Every year we buy one or two personalized ornaments, or the Hallmark collectibles, so we have quite a mixture, but they are all very meaningful. We do not use tinsel, just white and colored lights, ornaments and our beautiful angel. The stamp set is adorable, and the purples of course are awesome =) Cindy
Your tree sounds beautiful Dawn! You should post a pic when you do put it up…grin. I have decorated my tree in Red, White and Silver for years. The ornaments are red, white and silver. I have red poinsettias and white lights. We string (my 4 kiddos and myself) cranberries and popcorn too. I have silver beads and tons of other stuff too. Have a fabYOUlous Christmas and a Blessed New Year!
[email protected]
I usually stick to the basics – red with gold beads and ornaments that I’ve collected over the years. BUT my sister would love your tree – she loves purple!!!

I don’t have a theme to my tree, it is decorated with ornaments that mean something to us. Ornaments from my hubby and me as kids and every year I buy my kids ornaments that means something to them so when they grow up, they will get their ornaments. We also have lots of homemade ornaments.
Carla
This year my tree is decorated in golds and purples. I try and change the theme every year because it is not a huge tree and I am able to change the decorations pretty easily. Last year my theme was “gawdy”, cheap plastic iridescent garland, plastic red teardrop ornaments and anything else plastic and cheap I could find. Next year I want a pearl theme. Have a wonderful holiday.
I decorate in white, when I put one up. Living in Florida, we obviously don’t get snow, so I go for the next best thing. Merry Christmas!
Since our family is a blend of Scandinavia, we decorate mostly in the colors of the Danish, Norwegian, and Swedish flags, mainly red and white with a little blue and yellow. We use mostly straw and wooden ornaments with strings of the little flags and Danish heart baskets in the tradition of the Scandinavian countries, and also treasure any other ornaments which have been gifted to us over the years.
I’m a traditional Christmas person. Our tree has the usual
multicolors with glass ornaments.
Have a wonderful Christmas!
Hey Dawn,
Merry Christmas………..I change my tree everyother year, one year it is green and red with poinsetta’s and red cardinals and the next year it is blue and sliver with crystal orniments and Snowmen. It keeps things changing all the time and the house is decorated around the tree, red and green year is all Santa’s and Blue and Silver year its all snowmen. I have been collecting both since we married 29 years ago this month. This year it is green and red with the cardinals because of SU’s great Cardinal set I did my Christmas Cards out of that set too.
Blessings for a Merry Christmas,

Our tree is a mixture of old and new ornaments – collected over the years. I then trim the ends of the branches with red bows and then tuck in pine cones (spray-painted gold). The red from the bows and the gold from the pine cones pull out the reds and golds in the ornaments. It is really pretty, especially at night with the white lights glowing.
Our tree is decorated with the family ornaments that reflect the growth of our family from year to year. We actually had to race out and buy a new tree last night as our old tree couldn’t make it one more year, so we are starting a whole new set of memories with our new tree. My two girls ages 8 & 9 got a pink flocked tree on clearance for their room and it is so cute. They have a cute little cardinal for a tree topper that we found on clearance and they are so proud of their tree. We love this time of year because to us Christmas means family. Wishing your Mom a speedy recovery and a blessed Christmas to you and your family.
This year i id my tree in red and gold!!! Super pretty!!! Also a few ornaments me and my 2 year old made.
I have 4 trees plus 2 small ones in my daughter and youngest son’s rooms. The living room tree is all antique victorian with white lights. Goes with the decor in that room. The familyroom tree is all ornaments from every place that we visit and ormanments the kids have made throughout their school years and every year I get a new ornament with all of our names on it. The tree in the hall way has colored lights and no ornaments and the tree in the theater has all nautical ornaments because it used to be in the den which has all antique nautical decor. Thanks Dawn for teaching us all that you do. You are very inspiring! I LOVE and NEED the videos too!
Hi Dawn,
I have two trees, one is decorated with all silver and crystal and the other is decorated with traditional colors.
Marty ([email protected])
I have a Snowman theme not a color, I just love all my snow babies with snowflakes as accents…very fun!
Thanks for a chance to win such great candy!

I decorate my tree in white lights and bear ornaments of all kinds.
Love your blog. Merry Christmas. Malinda
We have two big trees at our house. One tree has ornaments that only my son has made along with our ornaments that we get when we are on vacations. And every year we always get a dated family ornament as well. All the ornaments have meaning to us and brings back such great memories! Our other tree is white with colored lights and Disney ornaments. We went to Disney twice this year and we collected mickey head ornaments. So that is our fun tree! I also have a small stick tree that has all snowmen on it.
Hi Dawn,
I love white lights on my tree and my oraments/tree decor is mostly Madame Alexander dolls, Barbie dolls and childlike animation. Have a Merry Christmas and a Beautiful New Year.
Lisa
My husband has been a Naval Aviator for almost 23 years. I love to collect Christmas ornaments with a Navy or Aviation theme and also from all the places we have been stationed. Needless to say my tree is full of them. I then use clear white lights and red ribbon and bells. It is great to remember all the wonderful places, people we have meet along the way and things we have done, while we decorate our tree. Merry Christmas to all and please keep our service men and women around the world in your thoughts and prayers. Happy Holidays, Tara
My tree is decorated in mainly angel ornaments, as I collect angels. The others are what my two daughters have received every year from grandparents and aunt, so I never know from year to year what we will be adding to the tree.
I so enjoy your website and with the best to your mom in her recovery period.
Penny
Hi Dawn,
I am a new follower of your blog, first off its awesome, keep up the good work! Love it.
Our tree is done in different colors, gold, blue and red garland, multi colored bulbs, a white angle on top and lots of pepermint candy canes. With a blue and silver tree skirt. and multi colored lights also. So no theme really
Katy from Southeast Nebraska
Hello, Purple all over from lights to garland, bows. My 3 yr old son’s ornaments is the only thing on the tree that is not purple. We are going to try your Pupppy chow mix out today. I’m with you on the snow. Its okay the first couple of times after that pass it on to somewhere else. HAHA!!Merry Christmas to you & your family.
I found where to post a comment – yahoo. I decorate in reds – on my tree and mantle. The walls are painted in mustard so reds make the room pop! Merry Christmas ([email protected]) – Penny
I must have missed the post of why you decided to not put up a
Christmas tree this year…? I’m curious..
I decorate our tree in Penguins….have collected several and of
course I always get a couple each year as gifts from friends & family.
You are my first 2-go-2 Blog every morning…love that.
Huge Holiday Hugs,
Pat
We decorate in traditional Christmas colors… red, green, gold, silver, etc. Thanks for the chance to win!
Hi Dawn. We do our tree with white lights and Hallmark ornaments. I used to work at Hallmark, so I have boxes and boxes of ornaments. Even still, I usually use the same ones every year! Thanks for all the great ideas, and Merry Christmas
Hi Dawn,
I have several themed trees that have several different colors in our home. In the front room we have our family tree that has handmade ornaments by our daughter through the years & ornaments from my childhood. So I call that the “Childhood Memory” tree that has all of our memories of ornaments made by our daughter, my Mom & me as well as other ornaments. The tree was our first Christmas tree that my hubby & Alyssa brought home when she was a little. She’s now 18. So it’s my most “specialist” tree. In our stockings each year we receive ornaments so they are added to the tree as well. Since it’s a family tree I have Rudolph & other old movie ornaments on the tree as well. Under the tree is our Rudolph theme including a train & different Rudolph items. I loved Rudolph growing up!
In the TV room I have my primitive tree that is all sparse & decorated with primitive, antique type ornaments. I put an old sleigh under the tree & add some of my Boyd plush bears under it.
Our kitchen has a small primitive tree in a crock with all old fashioned cookie cutters hanging from homespun material. Another sits by the sliding glass door with gingerbread “people” since I decorate the kitchen with a gingerbread theme for Christmas.
The powder room even has a small tree that is bird themed since that is the decor style there.
Now ask me if they are all up? NO! Where has the time flown this year?
Enjoy reading all of your responses!
Stampin’ Smiles from Ear to Ear,
Ann 🙂
Our tree is multi-colored with mostly child-made ornaments. The ornaments have been made by children ages 3-8, including an ornament made by me when I was in kindergarten! (1972!)
Dawn,
My tree has white lights on it and lots of different ornaments that we collect over the years. No two ornaments are the same, but I do have lots and I mean lots of snowmen ornaments even my tree topper is a snowman! Of course my favorite ornaments are my personalized ones from BRONNER’S! Gotta love that CHRISTmas store!
~Shannon D.~
I can’t really say we use a specific color because our tree is a “train” tree. We just added a new huge room for my DH’s train layout. Our tree is full of all train ornaments with colors of the RR’s.
Hi Dawn! We normally have a real “green” tree with ornaments that our children…ranging from 23-1 have made over the years…it’s kinda a mish mash of this and that…but I love it. However, this year my hubby wanted a white tree with all gold ornaments…he saw one when he was little in a department store…and has always wanted to do a tree like it. I was ok with the fake tree this year…our 1 year old is putting everything in his mouth and I just could not deal with him putting pine needles in his mouth too! 🙂 So…we have a white with all gold…I have to say it does look very beautiful! It’s a fun change! I’m making your “puppy chow” today! Our oldest son who is 20 and in the Marines is home for 7 days…we are having about 30 or so of his friends from high school over for a big spagetti dinner tonight…so I thought it would be fun to make that to munch on. I made brownies last night…and more cookies to make today! It will be so fun to have all the friends here! 🙂 Have a fantastic day! Thanks for all you do!
Hugs!
Jolie
Being an avid Arkansas Razorback fan my husband and I have a red and white Arkansas Razorback tree even the lights are Arkansas Razorbacks.
I decorate my Christmas tree in Navy blue and silver. I use clear lights and silver and blue bulbs with a large silver bow at the top. Thanks Heather
Christmas is my favorite time of the year. I have 2 trees. One is blue, white, and silver, and the other one is red and gold.
Maria ([email protected])
Hi Dawn,
Every year I do mostly a disney tree! It’s my favorite but I have to add a few old ornaments to the tree even though they are not disney!
love visting your blog daily, it’s part of my morning routine…

Hi Dawn,
First off I want to thank you for all you share! Love trying out your technics! 🙂
Our tree is decorated with multi colour lights and lots of random ornaments, some home-made, others collected, photo’s ornaments – the works!
Thanks again! Merry Christmas to you and yours!
I have a totaly mumble jumble tree…you know the ones with all the kids hand made things and family heirlooms that aren’t breakable. thank for a chance to win.
[email protected]
This is the first year that i didn’t put up a really big tree. We just got a little 5 footer and only used half a box of ornaments in multi colors. Most of the other ornaments were hand made by my kindergartener.
Every year I do a different theme! I happen to love Piglet so one year I had a whit tree with little piglets that I had gotten from Mc Donalds all over my tree and a Piglet hand puppet as my tree topper! It was so cute!
This year we did cranberry and gold.. bows and white lights. Each year is different. I like the change. Merry Christmas to all!
I love to do our tree in clear/white lights and then change the color every year, but this year it’s different. My husband loves the colored lights (the girls and I wanted clear/white) and since we have had it the girls way for the past few years, we surprised him with HIS tree. Colored lights, a variety of ornaments (made by the girls as they were growing up and some that we found when cleaning out his parents home.) I have to admit it’s a beautiful, special and loved tree.
I decorate my tree with white lights and all the ornaments I have collected through 37 years of marriage and 2 children that are now 29 and 22. I am now collecting things from my grandson. I love putting up each ornament and remembering where it came from. I have always wanted to do a themed tree but just cannot make myself not put my collection of ornaments out. I would love to see your purple tree.
Merry Christmas Dawn,
typically I used the multicolored everything, but not this year. My son lives on the south end of our farm and they did red and white so i decided to do blue and white! i love it!! blue ribbon with big white snowflake ornaments, but this year we have dicided not to put lights on the tree, we are into the “keep it very simple Christmas!!!!”
have a great Christmas. we are praying for your family and all those who have loved ones away in service. thank you for your family’s contribution to our country.
[email protected]
Dawn, I’m with you this year, I didn’t put up a tree either! But I have red and silver decorations. My daughter loves watching your videos, especially your phrase “Hi Stampeeerrs”! Thanks for the chance win your faveorite things!
fellsmeresun at bellsouth dot net
This year we have clear lights on our artificial tree with bows and decorations in burgundy and gold. I also add clear icicles and other glass ornaments edged in gold. On years I don’t use this theme, I use traditional decorations collected or received over the past 25 years. This brings back lots of fond memories of my folks who are both deceased, as every year they’d buy us ornaments with special meaning! On a lighter note, I really enjoy your blog and all your creativity. Thanks as always for sharing and have a wonderful holiday season!
We decorate the tree in a hodge podge of colors and styles. We have the small crystal ornaments that catch the light, Brass ones that reperesent loved ones who have passed on, mecury ornaments that I have colected and my favorite all those things that my son has made from preschool on. I keep those in a padded envelope in a special box and call it my Christmas tresure box. OHH and of course the ones I’ve made with my scrapping supples:) I know it’s not fancy but I sure love my Christmas tree. Every year after it goes up. I sit by it all lit up, after every one goes to bed with my cup of coco and remember all my loved ones. The ones that are with us and the ones that have passed on and of course what Christmas is truly about. It never fails to make me cry sweet tears of how blessed I truly am.
Merry Christmas to you and your family!
Thank you for all you do and for your familys service to out Lord!!!
Dawn
this year we have a new kitten who is into everything. so instead of our usual tree with colored lights & an ornaments that either the kids made over the years or special event ornaments from the store….this year we have a 4′ pink tree with white lights, purple balls, “crayola candy canes” (bright colors of the coloring box) and my 3yo daughters toy purses! It is a very blingy tree LOL
For lights, multi-colored, ornaments from 30 years ago with a few “new” sprinkle in. My grandmother crocheted all of her grandkids different ornaments one year and I still like those the best, because she made them. One year that is how I decorated our tree was with only crochet Christmas items/ornaments! May not be the most “up-to-date” but to me it says “LOVE”!!
Hi Dawn! Great Blog… this year I added purple to my tree so now it is blue, white, purple and silver. Merry Christmas!
Like you, I do not have my tree up this year. However, it is decorated in red and gold with clear lights. Lots of ribbon and blown glass ornaments—we have no children to break them :>)
I would lOVE to decorate our tree in all purple (since that is my favorite color, too) but since I’m the only girl in a house full of boys, I don’t think that would fly! Our tree is decorated with all the ornaments my kids have made and ones I’ve received as gifts from my students over the years. Needless to say, it’s quite eclectic! It may not be as “beautiful” as some, but our tree can tell you lots of funny, heartwarming stories with each ornament!
Our tree is in Blues this year. When the lights are out all you see if blue. Very pretty. I also have snowmen and Santa’s on my tree but I can never not have angels so most my tree I believe is angels with snowmen and Santa’s here and there.
Angel hugs
Debby
Last year was the first year I had a color themed tree and I continued the same this year. I used red balls (matte and shiny), red ribbon with gold accents and white lights. I think next year I’ll be bold and try red lights as well. Thanks, Alberta ([email protected])
Hi Dawn, since we have kids, my husband and daughter (5 years old, Floor) and son (3 years old, Maarten) are decorating the tree. It’s not like I would do it (1 serene color, white or silver …), but … as many colors as possbile, as many decorations as possible … This year when I came back from work, I looked into the window and checked again. The lights in the tree were not white but all colors and there were ‘blinking’ (is this the right English word for it??) … I could not believe my eyes. But … they had such fun and that’s what it’s all about! Lovely Holidays from The Netherlands! Anne-Marie ([email protected]).
My tree this year is white, because I love angels and snowmen
I love the white lights and the ornaments that the kids made in school throughout the years. You know the ones, the stocking with a child’s face on it that they painted all over. It brings great warm memories.
All of our ornaments are gifts from friends or handmade by the kids. Some of them are very interesting! Merry Christmas!
Dawn – Merry Christmas and Blessing to you in the New Year. My tree is multi-colored as it has all the ornaments from 50 years of marriage and kids on it. Next year I will have a small tree and will pick a color. I would love to see a picture of an all purple tree. Your blog is awesome…Thanks for sharing all you do!
I decorate in multi colors. I love your site and videos. great job Debbie
I decorate my tree with a different color every year, pink, purple, red, gold, burgandy, blue, just depends on how I feel when I put it up. If I am feeling sentimental then I use the ornaments that were on my tree when I was little and the ornaments made by my children and grandchildren. No matter what I use the tree always looks beautiful.
Well, normally it is an array of colors. My husband bought the tree with all the decorations so it has the glass balls and ribbons in reds, purples and blues. It’s really pretty when decorated. This year however, we have “little Kitty”. Needless to say she is decorating our tree this year. I am waiting for it to topple over. She goes into the tree and our other cat who is about 1 1/2 chases her. The little one pops out about half-way up the tree. It’s kind of funny to watch but they are ruining my beautiful tree! It’s artificial and they are bending the branches. I will have to get hubby to fix it before I put it away.
Hi Dawn – I would love to have this set it is soo cute. I am new to your website and just love all of the work that you have been sharing with us. I really appreciate it. Thanks Alot! Have a Wonderful Holiday.
Hi Dawn! I just love your site! You have taught me so much! We decorate our Tree with a Mickey Mouse Theme. You see, my husband is a Mickey Mouse Maniac! We have a Minnie Mouse Tree Topper and many, many various ornaments of Mickey and Minnie that we have collected over our 35 years of marriage. We have our daughter’s Mouseketeer Ears on the tree that she got 20 years ago. Our tree lights are white and our tree rotates continuously(Makes it easy to see ALL the ornaments). Hope you have “A Very Merry Mickey Christmas from our House to Yours”.

Hi Dawn,
No Christmas tree?? I have two Christmas trees. I put up an artificial tree in front of my picture window that has white lights on it and burgandy and gold decorations. In our family room we put up a real tree that we go out and cut from a tree farm. It has colored lights on it and all of our family decorations that we have given each other or made. Merry Christmas to you and your family. Thanks so much for all that you do.

Hi Dawn
sorry no tree:( Our family decorates with the multi-colored
lights along with homemade ornaments that the girls made.
A speedy recovery for mom!! Love your site and thanks for the
chance to win!
Many christmas blessings and a healty happy new year…
Angela
We decorate our tree with clear lights but Blue and silver bulbs and ornaments. My favorite color is blue which is good I guess since I now have 2 boys.
Our tree at home is done in all different colors with a snowman theme. The tree I decorated at church was done in burgundy and gold this year.
Our tree is all different colors. We use the colored lights and since my parents and my husband’s parents gave us each an ornament a year growing up, and we continue that tradition, there is a lot of variety on our tree. It’s a lot of fun to open up the ornament box and recall the stories behind each ornament and why they were given to us.
Dawn,
We have 2 trees. One (in the picture window) is the old fashion aluminum tree with two color wheels making it shine. The other tree is in our basement because we have everyone over on the 24th to celebrate. That tree is decorated with a variety of ornaments that we have collected over the years. It also has multi lights that are really bright. Merry CHRISTmas!
Laura
Hi Dawn – Our small but precious little tree is decorated with clusters of red berries, gold balls and clear lites. It’s adorable 🙂
Merry Christmas to you and your loved ones!!
I love checking your blog on a regular basis. I enjoy all you show to us. Thanks, I got a kick out of you putting a snowman on your daughter’s fingernail.LOL
My tree is in silver, white and tourquoise, I love it when the lights come on everything sparkles…
Merry Christmas to you and your family.
Well, at our house, we are pretty basic. Our tree is full of ornaments that our two kids have made(4 and 7yrs old) and as well every year we let them pick out an ornament that relates to something they like. Tractors, My little pony, disney characters and then lite with clear lights. The kids love it because the tree showcases things they have made specially.
You and my daughter both share a passion for the color purple. She too loves all shades.
Happy Holidays!
I decorate in all colors because I love the sights and sounds of Christmas. We won’t have a tree this year because for one we waited too late and second it snowed on the coast in Washington state and was too cold for the guy where we were going to cut our tree so we will have to wait till next year or just decorate the house without a tree. I am unemployed since September and we moved November 15 so have a lot on our plate. Empty nest so just my wonderful husband and myself for Christmas. We love it…first time 😀 Thanks Dawn I love your site and visit it daily.
My tree is decorate in a Mix of Ornaments Not one specific theme although I would love to have a pink tree!
Our family room tree has multi colored lights (my husband likes those), the small tree in my dining room has clear lights & gingerbread boys & red gingham yo-yos & the tree on our screen porch is decorated in blues with clear lights——but they are all pretty!!! Thanks for a chance to win!

“HELLO” from Tennessee. We decorate our tree with red and green, Santas, snowmen, glass candy and large colored balls with the families names on them like they do on Days of Ours Lives soap opera. I really enjoy your links to Stampin’Up. I learn something new all the time. MERRY CHRISTMAS YA’LL!!!!!! to MOM and HUBBY, too.
Do you have a pic of your purple tree? Would love to see if. I’ve always loved purple but never had a Christmas done in it. ~Bonnie in SC~

We really don’t have just one color BUT a purple christmas tree sounds GREAT!! I am have to rethink this next year.
I let the kids put on the decorations and they do a great job. It is a total hodge podge of things.
Fun giveaway!!

We have 2 trees. The one in the family room has white and colored lights with a hodge podge of ornaments. The one in the dining room is decorated in white and silver.
Merry Christmas!!
Hi Dawn,
I have the traditional colored lights with green tree. I know, that sounds boring. But, I will be hiding a pickle in the tree! I read somewhere this was an old German tradition, so I started doing it a couple of years ago (with a glass pickle ornament) and my family loves to look for it. The one who finds it gets a special treat. I wish you and your family a very Merry Christmas and I pray your mom’s arm continues to heal.
Blessings,
Judy

Hi Dawn and Merry Christmas!!! I’ve always loved this season and decorated my trees with only ornaments collected throughout the year – I add at least one every year. This year I’ve been in the dumps a bit and did not put a tree up…I’m thinking I’m going to stack up the presents in the form of a tree… or maybe at the last minute get a charlie brown tree – who knows, I’ll just get creative!!!
Love your site! Thanks for all your help and inspiration throughtout the year!
Though my tree is of all colors, the predominant color is white… lots of white lace ornaments.
Hi, Dawn! Purple is also our color. My DH probably wouldn’t have it any other way and my son loves it. Merry [email protected]
Hi Dawn, Our tree has multi-colored lights with ornaments of all kinds, homemade, hallmark, bulbs, snowmen and santas predominate. Some gold bead garland and silver tinsel and a star on top complete our tree. Thanks for the chance to win. jmniffer
Dawn,
Our tree is a hodgepodge of every color, shape, theme, and style! I love it, and that’s how tress were when I was a kid. I love theme trees too, so if I ever have 2 trees I’d do one that way, but I’ll always have my multi-tree (including the bubble light string and the Disney Princess light string!)
Glad to hear your Mom is doing better – she has many prayers coming her way!
Dawn,
We decorate our tree in every color we can find!! This year we have our tree up but it will be difficult celebrating with our son in Iraq. We wish all our troops the happiest of holidays and can’t wait until you are back again on American soil!
I love you site-thanks for all the inspiration!
I alternate my tree’s theme from year to year but my colors tend to stay in the green family- either green and gold elegant- 2008! or if I’m feeling country I go classic green and reds.
Our tree is decorated with small multi-colored lights. The ornaments are all hand-made by my kids or gifts from friends or inherited from family. I don’t buy ornaments for myself – and somehow it all comes together evey year!
I love decorating the tree. It is full of blinking multi colored lights. The first ornament to go on the tree is the one my husband and I bought for our first Christmas. Then on go the baby’s first Christmas ornaments and then all the other handmade and collected ornaments the boys have made thru the years. We have their bells that they had to ring in a church program when they were younger. All the ornaments have special meanings. I also have handmade snowflakes that I hang on.
I decorate my tree in white lights. I love the clean look of it. We have collected many ornaments over the years. My favorites are the ones the kids have made in school. Our only problem is my cat “Piggy” thinks the tree decorations are just a bunch of new toys we bring out every year for his entertainment!!! We find garland on the floor and ornaments under the tree skirt. But he doesn’t stop there! Baby Jesus is often missing from the manger. That’s right…Piggy snatches Him almost daily and we have to find Him. I guess you could say we find Jesus every day!!!
Since we moved I have been decorating my tree in a rusty brown and gold. It is really pretty. I finish it off with gold butterflies.
Hi Dawn,
We decorate our tree with colored lights and a assortment of ornaments we have been given since we started dating 16 years ago and married almost 14 years. No 2 ornaments are alike except for some icicle shaped ones I purchased about 5 years ago. I just wanted to Thank You for all your inspiration your site provides me as well as others. My 2 and half year old knows you by site. She always says that is MISS DAWN! I just thought I would share that with you. May you and your family have a Blessed Christmas and a Health New Year!!!
Cathy
I decorate my tree in every colour. My parents and grandparents have all been gone many years and I have tons of cool old beautiful ornaments with soooooooo many memories!
Have a good one!
Mary
Dawn, I decorated my tree this year with white lights and gold ornaments. I just wanted to say that I enjoy your web site and start out my day viewing your current project before I go to work. Sometimes I feel that I know you and that you are right here. I’ve learned alot from your videos. Thanks for doing such a great job.
Hi Dawn,
This year I changed the colors of my tree. I went with sage green, champange gold and a touch of red for accenting. I bought many cute butterflies and birdies PLUS, as a tradition, we buy a new ornament for each family member – each one picks their own blown-glass ornament to hang on the tree.
I also have a tree skirt I bought after Christmas last year that fits perfectly! I love my tree!
As a tradition, we have my husband put the Christmas pickle on the tree… that officially starts our Christmas season.
By the way, the pickle is a Texas tradition! {hee-hee}
Marilyn
I love watching your videos. You are great to share so much.
Hi Dawn,
Our tree this year is decorated in red and white (which also happen to be my hubby’s favourite soccer team’s colours). We have many ornaments so every year we choose a differnet colour scheme. No matter what colours we use to decorate we are always happy with our Christmas tree. After all, as the song goes…it is “the happiest season of all”…..the anniversary of Christ’s birth.
So Happy Holidays to you and yours…..or as the Portuguese like myself would say….BOAS FESTAS!
Dawn,
We put multi-colored lights on our tree and then we put the decorations on, which some of the decorations are hand-made, some are family heirlooms, and of course I have a selections for my Green Bay Packers. Merry Christmas!
Dawn,
I went out and bought a pre-lighted tree years ago. It has been the best thing I ever did. I am very allergic to real trees, plus having to clean up all of those needles every year, but now with this easy tree (that is what I call it), I take it out of the box, plug it in and decorate it with Gold Garland, red, white & green bead garland that the kids made. I use every color. I have a lot of glitter ornaments. Those are my favorite. Glitter, glitter, and more glitter. Happy holidays to you and your family.
I decorate with ornaments that my late Nana and Pop-Pop made when I was young. My mom decorated using all of the ornaments until my sister and I were living on our own, then we divided them all up. So I decorate using ornaments from my childhood – looking at my tree is like visiting Christmases Past.
Hi Dawn,
I love your blog, especially the videos! Thank you for sharing your talent with us. We don’t have any specific colors for our christmas tree. It’s mixed. The ornaments are from the kids at school or their pictures in frames for each year. Still looks nice. 🙂
Best wishes for your mother. 🙂
Hi Dawn, Oh what fun!!!!
I decorate my tree in traditional red and green, old ornaments from my childhood and my sons ornaments. Red beads, and a red star on the top. Every year I wrap my presents all the same, this year is red and white polkadot with green curling ribbon, very simple and retro looking!!!!!
Hi Dawn,
I have two trees up this year. I decorate the small tree that is my living room in all purple too. (My living room is purple) The larger tree that is in my family room is red and silver, with several handmade glass ornaments that I etched a reindeer on then filled with shredded paper.
Thanks! Rickie B.
Theme? Color? I go with the “all the merrier” mode. We have not had a tree for a few years and this year we went with a real great smelling huge one. I put a lot of the ornaments we have collected throughout the years but finally I said enough is enough and left a bunch in the boxes. We do have a tremendous amount of pig ornaments. When we lived in Texas – the doctor I worked for decided I was from Iowa – therefore I liked pigs so she gave me hundreds of pig items and among them are a bunch of pig ornaments. One from Neiman Marcus is quite $$$$ too. So, I guess I could go with the pig theme some time. Maybe I could team up with the National Pork Council and do a tree for a good cause! Anyway, I just wanted to wish you a happy holiday season and I love looking at all your great projects and tutorials.
I have a 30 year collection of ornaments representing different events or memories that my family has experienced over the years. A little shepherd ornament to represent the year my children were shepherds in our church’s live nativity scene…a Snow White ornament to represent the year my youngest daughter dressed as Snow White for Halloween…a Humpty Dumpty ornament to remind me of my favorite nursery rhyme. It’s really fun every year to take them out one by one and recall each memory as we hang them on the Christmas tree. I hope you have a memorable and blessed Christmas!
I used to make my tree all blues. I had a blue star on top, blue blue bulbs, blue light, blue garland strand and it was beautiful. However, I now do it up in reds and gold. I have all white light and a poinsetta (sp) garland strand that runs thru the tree with beautiful red flowers and green leafs, and then I have 3 or 4 bird houses with red birds and gold french horns. It looks so pretty, especially with a white Christmas. It has been so cold and so snowy that Garrett hasn’t been able to play in the snow, so with Christmas break coming on almost a week early, we hope to warm up a tad so he can go out and play…lol.
Merry Christmas Dawn,
I don’t put up a big tree anymore. I have a little three foot tree on my piano that has handmade crafty and mini ornaments. I turn the lights on at night to get that warm Christmas feeling. I am 72 and just don’t want the fuss of putting up all the stuff. I guess my kids will get all my special ornaments that I have collected. I have a special set of The Wizard of Oz stars that was handmade for me by the Dough-Art lady in Sacramento. Very talented woman. She sold the ornaments and did lots of remodeling to her house. And she put in eight hours a day making them to sell at bazzars etc.
Enjoyed talking the other night. By the way I sold one of the four pencil holders I made.

Hi Dawn! I absolutely love your web site. I have tried a lot of your cards and other things. My christmas tree is multicolours. Every year we plan on doing a stylish and themed christmas tree, but when the old box with the old ornaments comes in to the room, we cant stop our selves. There are so many memories connected to them. Maybe I will have a themed tree next year??? Who knows…

My Christmas tree is usaully a hodge podge of handmade ornaments, halmark, precious moments and lots of other types.

I didn’t do a tree this year either, but when I do I do traditional colors. I use all homemade ornaments on it. It looks “country”.
Don’t think my post made it this morning so I’ll try again. My tree is decorated mostly in red and white. I have old glass ornaments with poinsettas(sp) filling in all the empty spaces. Neppie [email protected]
Merry Christmas! I love purple too. This year our tree is all decorated with blue and white lights and my favorite SNOWMEN. I have also added small blue and white ribbons all over. LORIK.

My tree has ornaments which my Mother bought and were dated each year–now I have started this tradition with my Great Niece
MERRY CHRISTMAS TO YOU DAWN
Hi Dawn,
I wasn’t entertaining this year so we said white lights were perfect. Usually I have an angel tree. You should take a picture of your tree. It sounds beautiful. I thought of you this weekend when I was at my cabin in northern Wisconsin. As I was enjoying my cocktail I looked outside and the snow was coming down as glitter. I told my husband that Dawn G would love this.
Happy Holidays!
HI! We decorate with multi-colored lights, many, many, many handmade (by friends and our children) ornaments, with the occasional special Hallmark ornament. Our tree skirt is VERY special. It’s a muslin skirt, with Santa and Mrs. Claus embroidered on it. Each year, I have, and will continue, to put my boy’s hand prints on it. I mark with with the year. I would love to see your purple tree. It must be beautiful! Merry Christmas! Sandy

We have 2 trees; one is white or blue lights with silver ornaments. The light color depends on which daughter is home when we decorate. The second tree is all the homemade ornaments and children’s ornaments I’ve saved for the past 25 years. The homemade/mismatched tree is my favorite; the showcase tree is my daughter’s favorite. Wait till they have kids:-). Best wishes to you and Jess and you Mom. Mary Jo
We have two young children so our tree is very traditional. We do all colors and add touches that relfect the intrest of the kids for the year.
I am new to your site and LOOOOOOVE it!!! I made about 80 small santa and snowman candy wrapers and my kids just passed them out in grocery stores and at our outdoor mall. It was very touching. I also made about 21 large candy wrappers and even did them as a craft in my son’s classroom. I am hooked. Thanks for doing treat ideas. 🙂
Happy Holidays from Virginia!
I have a Victorian tree – with lots of pink and burgundy “treasures”!! Actually this is the first yearr we’ve only put up one tree – usually we put up about 10!! Thanks.
Dawn I go back in forth red or blue. this year is red

Hi Dawn…Our Christmas Tree is in Reds and Golds. The ornaments are from when my son and daughter were little. (I did share some of them for their tree) They are grown and married…Traci 38 and James 34. Also, ornaments from the children I had in school. First, I was a Pre-School Teacher for 9 years and then a Special Ed. Assisitant in the public school system…for 14 years. Each year I take out the ornaments and think how old those “little ones” would be now. Some have children of their own now….yes….they are really old…lol Of course down to the bottom of our tree is my very favorite Nativity Scene (out of many)I bet your tree has been beautiful in past years….Have a very blest Christmas and A Happy New Year! Tell your hubby thank you for keeping us all safe so we can enjoy the holidays with our families! Love ya girlie…Patricia
Hi Dawn;
Our tree is decorated with colored lights and all different kind of ornaments we have collected over the years as well as the ones the kids have made at school (for many years too). It is fun to see their faces at different stages of their lives.
My tree is all snowmen. I have white lights and then only snowmen.

Wow… look at all the comments… you’re one popular babe.. and rightly so !!! Love ALL your videos!!! My tree is multicolor balls and lights, and all different styles of ornaments… some religious, some old fashioned, lots of cutesy, lots of gawdy.. LOL… and lots of GOLD…… Love GOLD for Christmas time and any time !!
I decorate my tree in all different colors. I cherish the home made ornaments from my kids when they were growing up. Every year it brings back memories when we pull them out and put them on the tree.
Our tree is every color of the rainbow!! Every year since the kids were born, we purchase an ornament for them … usually something that is special to them at that time, or something meaningful to them that year. When they were very small they got a big bird ornament and loved it. The year we travelled as a family down east they got a lighthouse ornament from the Maritimes. There is every color imaginable on the tree and multi colored lights to boot!
My tree is as colorful as possible. I love the lights to blink (slowly) and the ornaments are always gifts from friends and one’s I’ve made.
