Last Sunday hubby had a bloody nose that lasted through Monday and he even came home from work early because of it Plus he felt lightheaded, so we took him to the clinic and they used Silver Nitrate to stop the bleeding
BUT guess what ??
He had another another one Thursday and another one on Friday what in the world ..
We didn't end up going back he just pinched his nose for like 15 minutes and it seemed to stop . WHEW!
Any ideas out there stampers on bloody noses ? I was thinking the change of weather BUT seriously the whole time he was in Iraq ( very dry over there ) he only had a few . Would love to hear your thoughts .

Until later… Happy Stampin!

Dawn, Saw your post on your hubby’s nose bleeds, has his blood pressure been checked, elavated blood pressure reading can cause nose bleeds, it’s natures way of relieving the pressure. With him being exposed to Iraq he has to be careful. Please let me know how he does.
I’m a nurse and SU demonstrator from Fl.
Dawn, Check his blood pressure and be sure he is drinking enough water… Hope all is well. xoxo
OMG, never thought of making a dessert just out of pie crust, cinnamon and sugar. That sounds yummy! Can you share the recipe?
It’s probable that the tissues in his nose are dry and cracked. It’s a messy job, but he should work petroleum jelly into the tissues in his nose. Works for my father every spring. 🙂
If this continues to be an issue, a nose and throat doctor can cauterize the tissues to thicken and toughen them so they are less susceptible to cracking. But my understanding is this is something of a last resort.
No fun, though…I’ll keep you both in my prayers! Oh, one more tip…Grandma’s Spot Remover (sold at most craft and fabric stores) will take bloodstains out of almost anything. 🙂
I cannot wait for you to get your computer up and running. Love your video! hope you have a wonderful Mother’s Day!
They may actually need to cauterize hubby’s(bleeder in his) nose, Of course as a nurse I always say this, but if it happens again and especially if he feels lightheaded, he needs to be seen. Has he been around any new chemicals at work or anything like that? Again, Have a wonderful Mother’s Day!

Did they check your husband’s blood pressure?
Happy Mother’s Day to you!!!!
My daughter has had MANY bloody noses and it got to the point were she was getting light headed and passing out from it. I tool her to the Ears-Nose-Throat doctor and she was wonderful. She used the silver nitrate stuff to burn some of the vessels and actually had to go back like 3 times over the next month to get them all. That has been over 2 years now and she MAYBE has one every 6 months to a year, but nothing serious, pinching her nose and head on her legs for like 10 min and all done. WAY better than it was.
Hope that helps 🙂
WOW heavy nose bleeds aren’t a good thing! When I worked ER we saw nose bleeds for many reasons. Some were high blood pressure, hormones, males on ‘enhancement drugs’ like viagra or OTC products, chemicals, trauma, drugs, and cancer’s. I knew that young males would wake up with a pillow covered with blood due to a hormone nose bleed but didn’t know any male with hormone changes could do that too! Just household bleach can cause a chemical bleed. Hope hubby gets it under control but I wouldn’t hang around and let it continue. Find a good ENT and have it checked out. Vickie
Dawn, I agree with taking him to a ENT. If his blood pressure is ok, have them check for polpys in his nasal passages. Also you can use some over-the-counter nasal saline wash, just to moisten his nasal passages. Being in ICU unit all the time, we see it everyday. My grandmother suffered from the samething. I will send you a personal email on that. Have a great Sunday, and I’ll email you soon!!
Dawn,
Don’t want to scare you, but please have your husband see a doctor. A guy at my husband’s work just went through several days of nose bleeds that wouldn’t stop. As it turns out, he had an exposed artery and now has a small baloon like thing inside his nose so that they can close it off. I don’t understand it at all, but I know the guy was really suffering. So please seek medical attention, if it continues! Take care!
High blood pressure…agree with all those above on that one!
My son used to have terrible nose bleeds. His doctor said that after a shower, while the inside of the nose is damp from the moisutre, put vaseline on a q-tip inside the nose. It will keep the vessels from drying out. Here is a tip that I use on kids at school all the time – when the nose is bleeding, put an ice cube in their mouth – under the top lip. It will shrink the vessel and stop the bleeding. Good Luck!
Hi Dawn – your husband should see his primary care doctor for an exam and possibly a referral to an Ear, Nose & Throat specialist. He should also let the doctor know if he’s noticed any change in his sense of smell or taste, as loss of these senses and the sudden onset of nosebleeds can indicate something serious. Let us know how he makes out.
Hi Dawn, I’ve enjoyed your site for years!!! Have your husband try Afrin nasal spray for nose bleeds.
A Vitamin C deficiency can also cause nose bleeds.
I agree with several posters above who suggest taking/sending your husband to an ENT. In the mean time, when a nosebleed begins, put something cold on the back of his neck — bag of ice, bag of frozen peas, cold wet washcloth, even a handful of metal keys will help. Those tricks have helped me several times in the last couple of years. Good luck!
My doctor recommended saline solution nasal spray when I was getting nose bleeds but mine was mild compared to your hubby’s. A older man at work had a bad nose bleed a few times & one day it would not stop, they took him to the hospital & eventually he had to have it cauterized…he never had any problems after that. I think our work environment had a lot to do with it too, it was very dry & dusty in our office, not to mention very HOT. Hope he learns more soon, I will keep him in my prayers. I also recommend seeing a nose doctor…can’t hurt, right?!
I just know that bloody nose can be caused by high blood pressure, and this could indicate some heart diseases, this is not joke, he should go check a doctor as soon as possible and reduce salt in food.
Hi Dawn, my huband had that problem – 1. high blood pressure 2. allergies 3. they ended up having to cauterize blood vessel. He should go to an ENT doctor. Karen
I’m not sure what causes them, but tricks I use to stop nosebleeds are a cool cloth on the back of the neck and putting a folded up half tissue under the upper lip. I haven’t tried ice like a previous person said.
I also was told to use Polnaris an oil sold in the nasal spray section. I used less than the recommend amount though. Saline and Neospoian is what I also use inside nose for moisture. Allergy pills are my contributor to nosebleeds.
My daughter at the age of 2 had many nose bleeds. We lived in Colorado and it was really dry. The DR said to put vaseline in her nose at night and that seemed to do the trick. She was getting a nose bleed almost nightly. Can you imagine me going into her room and seeing her covered in blood! Home remedies to work.
Hi! Sounds like you have plenty of ideas for your hubby, but to throw in my $5 (used to be 2cents, but what with inflation and all…) 😉
My hubby used to get them as well. Though the didn’t last quite as long, he was getting them daily. The ENT found that he has a deviated septum. He was told that a permanent fix required surgery, or the could cotterize the blood vessels in his nose. He opted for the second choice. That was about 10 years ago, maybe longer. Now he only gets them once in awhile when, you guessed it, his blood pressure goes up. 🙂
On a different note, just wanted to let you know how much my daughter and I enjoy your videos. You are our “go to” for tips and ideas. Thanks for putting in the extra time and effort!
Since everybody has suggested medical reasons or to see a doctor. I thought I would let you know what I did as a kid and it wasn’t pinching my nose. This sounds gross, but I do it everytime and it’s the quickest way I was up and moving again. I would blow the clot out from my nose and then breathe profusely though my mouth until I was sure the nose bleed was over.
wierd, i just posted my daughter has yet another bloody nose tonight.. the er doctor told me to run a humidifier in her room (she has another cold or sinus infection right now) and to pinch the bridge of the nose. poor kid is gonna fall asleep doing that tonight. also the vaseline trick everyone mentioned.
